Box 40817 Indianapolis, Indiana 46240 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** Outdoor Arts Fair ** The Penrod Society invites you to submit an application to display your works of art at its forty-second annual Penrod Arts Fair on the beautiful grounds of the Indianapolis Museum of Art, 38th Street and Michigan Road, Indianapolis, IN on Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Approximately 300 artists and galleries will be selected for this year’s Fair. The selection of artists and galleries will be made by a jury comprised of professional artists and gallery owners. Additionally, there will be 5 prizes of $500.00 each awarded by judges for “Best in Class.” ** Entries ** Entry rules and regulations are as follows: Each artist desiring to display at the Arts Fair must submit a separate application. The application shall include: (1) the attached entry form (2) an exhibition fee check for $190 for artists and $390 for galleries made payable to “The Penrod Society” (3) a separate non-refundable jury fee check for $25 made payable to “The Penrod Society” (4) three 35mm slides to show the jury a sampling of your work and one 35mm slide of your booth display that you plan to use at the Fair. The quality of your slides is very important as they are the basis upon which the jury makes its decision. The decisions of the jury are final and are not subject for review. (5) If you would like your slides returned, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your completed application. Slides must be 2 in by 2 in, 35mm color, mounted in plastic or cardboard with the artist’s name printed on the top and marked with a red dot on the bottom left corner of the viewing side. No kits. One (1) artist per booth. One (1) medium for judging. Entries must be submitted to: Artist Chairman The Penrod Society P.O. Box 40817 Indianapolis, IN 46240-0817 The deadline for entries is March 15th, 2008. Entries accepted for exhibition will be notified by the end of April 2008. Accepted artists will be listed on the website on or before June 1, 2008. Credentials will be forwarded to exhibitors in late July. Entries not accepted will be notified and their exhibition fee check returned. Should an accepted exhibitor need to cancel, a refund of $50 will be made if written notice of cancellation is received by the Artist Chairman by August 1, 2008. Cancellation after August 1, 2008 will result in a forfeiture of the exhibitor’s fee. Please tell us where you would like to be located (understanding, of course, that sometimes requests can not be met). In order to better serve artists after the Fair, we are offering to link your website to ours. If you would like Penrod to link your website to our website, please enclose a check in the amount of $35, and provide your web address. This link will remain active until March 31, 2009. Keep in mind, many patrons try to reach artists after the Fair for additional purchases. If you do not have an e-mail address, please write to us and request a paper application. Your paper application request along with a $15 processing fee made payable to “The Penrod Society” should be mailed to the address above. Your processing fee will cover all future mailings to you during 2008. ** Arrangements ** Set up is Friday, September 5th, noon until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, September 6, 6:00 to 7:30 a.m. Friday set up is strongly encouraged. Overnight security will be provided. No exhibitor will be allowed to remain on the grounds overnight. The Arts Fair will be held regardless of weather. Rain has significantly affected the Arts Fair only twice in our forty-one year history. Each exhibitor will be responsible for the display, custody and sale of his or her own work and each exhibitor must provide his or her own tent, display boards, tables, easels and other display items. Booth space should measure 10 ft by 10 ft. Neither the Indianapolis Museum of Art nor The Penrod Society, nor any representative or member of those organizations will be responsible for any losses or damage to any work exhibited or property brought to the Arts Fair. The receipt of your entry form and check will constitute your agreement to exhibit subject to these conditions.
